Directions to Sites

The Chorale has been fortunate to find excellent host sites for its rehearsals and performances. Locations for special performances vary (see "Calendar.") If you need directions for any specific site, or have questions regarding handicapped accessibility, please contact us by email or phone and we will be happy to help.

1st Presbyterian Church of Matawan
Route 34 at Franklin Street

Parking in lot behind church; handicapped parking along side of building; wheelchair ramp into building and wheelchair section in auditorium available.

FROM THE NORTH VIA GARDEN STATE PARKWAY:

Take G. S. Parkway South thru the RARITAN TOLLS. Stay to the Right after tollbooths, and continue South via the "LOCAL" lanes. Take second exit after tollbooths for ROUTE 9-SOUTH.

Continue South on ROUTE 9. When possible, get into LEFT LANE. After approximately 2 miles, take LEFT LANE EXIT for MATAWAN--ROUTE 34 South.

Continue South on Route 34 approximately 4 miles. As you pass the BUTTONWOOD MANOR RESTAURANT on your LEFT, get into the LEFT LANE (& put your blinker on to signal a left turn !)
1st Presbyterian Church will appear on the Left as you start to go uphill--TURN LEFT into FRANKLIN STREET. Go half a block & turn left into church parking lot.

FROM THE NORTH VIA N.J. TURNPIKE:

Take TURNPIKE SOUTH to EXIT 11 - WOODBRIDGE. After tollbooths, bear left up ramp & take the GARDEN STATE PARKWAY-SOUTH through the RARITAN TOLLS. Proceed as directed above.

FROM THE SOUTH:
Because neither the G. S. Parkway or the NJ Turnpike are convenient to linking into Route 34 from the South, you are advised to find the easiest approach from your location to ROUTE 34 & continue NORTH.

As you get into the Matawan/Aberdeen area, you will go through a shopping district that includes a Stop-&-Shop supermarket (on the right), a Carvel (a bit further, on the left), and Peter's Fishery (a bit further, on the right.)
About 2 blocks further north, on the right, you will soon see the 1^st Presbyterian Church. TURN RIGHT into FRANKLIN STREET. Go half a block and turn left into church parking lot.

VIA GARDEN STATE PARKWAY:

Exit 102 to Asbury Park Avenue, (going East) for approximately 4 miles.
Turn left on to Main Street (Route 71 North)
Turn right on 2nd Avenue. Church is on the corner on the left.
Parking on street or in shopping plaza lot on Main St.

VIA ROUTE 18 or ROUTE 35:
Take exit for Asbury Avenue East (Route 18, exit 10), making sure to follow sign for "Asbury Park" as your go around the Rt. 35 circle. At Main Street (Route 71 North), turn LEFT. Go a few blocks and turn RIGHT on 2nd Avenue. Church is on corner on left.
Parking on street or in shopping plaza lot on Main St.

FROM THE NORTH:
VIA NJ TURNPIKE: Take NJ Turnpike South to Exit 11. Take Route 9 South. See below.

VIA GARDEN STATE PARKWAY: Take Parkway South. After Raritan Tolls, stay right and continue south on "local" lanes. Take Exit 123 to Rt. 9 South. See below.

VIA ROUTE 34: Take Rt. 34 South to intersection of ROUTE 537. Turn Right onto Route 537-WEST. This road will take you directly into the center of FREEHOLD. In Freehold, it is called "MAIN STREET." Continue straight ahead past the Hall of Records and through shopping area.

In about 1 mile, First Presbyterian Church is on the left. Park on the surrounding side streets or on West Main Street.

VIA ROUTE 79: Take Rt. 79 South (from Matawan, it's 10 miles) directly into FREEHOLD. Route 79 will end/merge with MAIN STREET at traffic light. Continue right through town on MAIN STREET past Hall of Records and shopping area. Continue as indicated above.

VIA ROUTE 9: Take Rt. 9 South. Take Exit for WEST MAIN STREET (1^st Exit AFTER the entrance to the FREEHOLD MALL.) Turn Left onto West Main Street. First Presbyterian Church will appear on the right in about 3 blocks. Park on the surrounding side streets or on West Main Street.

FROM THE SOUTH:

VIA ROUTE 34: Take Rt. 34 NORTH to intersection of ROUTE 537. Turn LEFT onto Route 537-WEST. This road will take you directly into the center of FREEHOLD. In Freehold, it is called "MAIN STREET." Continue straight ahead past the Hall of Records and through shopping area.

FROM THE NORTH VIA THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY:

Take Parkway South to EXIT 117--
After the tollbooth, merge onto Route 35 South. Continue several miles. As you pass Laurel Avenue (Exxon station on corner,) stay in right lane, exiting shortly to jughandle & traffic light (staying to the right as you do this.) Go through light, crossing Rt. 35---you are now on Cherry Tree Farm Road.

Continue on Cherry Tree Farm Road. After light at Wilson Avenue, entrance to church parking lot will soon be on the left (Church is NOT immediately visible, but driveway has sign for church and Mater Dei High School.) Turn LEFT into parking lot, & proceed to the far right, to church.

FROM THE SOUTH:
VIA the GARDEN STATE PARKWAY: Take EXIT 114. At traffic light at end of exit ramp, take a right and continue through next light on Red Hill Road. This road will curve to the left, and now is called Van Schoik Road. After a couple more traffic lights, the road is called "S. Laurel Avenue." Soon you will come to the intersection of Rt. 35 (Exxon station on right). Take right 'exit' onto Rt. 35 South, staying to the right as you do this, exiting shortly to jughandle & traffic light Go through light, crossing Rt. 35---you are now on Cherry Tree Farm Road.
